Welcome to our office. We have compiled a step by step list to help you understand the sequence and timing of your treatment. Please read below to simplify your “orthodontic experience”.

Orthodontic Treatment Sequence

1. Initial Consultation
Review of chief concern. Clinical exam. Estimate of fee and time in treatment.

2. Records (30-40 min)

Consists of:

Orthodontic X-rays (panorex and lateral Ceph) Full mouth series X-rays (as necessary) Impressions (moulds) for plaster diagnostic models Photographs of face and teeth

3. Begin Treatment (30 min)
Finalize treatment plan and sequence. All paperwork must be signed and records/initial payment made. This is when we place the braces on your teeth. Instructions on how to take care of them.

4. Metal Rings on back teeth and wires (20 min)
This is when we place the braces on your back teeth. You will also get wires that attach to the brackets and you can pick your colors.

5. Adjustments (5-10 min)
Usually done once every 4-10 weeks (as the doctor orders). At these appointments you can change your colors.

6. Braces Off – End of Treatment (45 min)
Congratulations. You are finished with your treatment and all your braces come off. We will also clean and polish your teeth, take pictures, x-rays and final moulds.

7. Retention Phase (5 min)
Appointments following delivery of retainers to ensure that retainers fit properly and teeth are not shifting.
